One of the main reason why Aloe Vera leaves turn brown is because of excessive heat. But, the Aloe Genus which the Aloe Vera belongs, are native to tropical Southern Africa, Madagascar, Jordan, the Arabian Peninsula, and various islands in the Indian Ocean like Mauritius, Réunion, Comoros. So, they’re not going to die because of the heat of the sun.
Other reason why the Aloe Vera leaves turn brown is the change in their environment. If the Aloe Vera has adapted living indoor for sometime, it may shock the plant if you place it outdoor – the leaves will turn brown.
Some Aloe varieties and species are more tolerant to heat compared with other species and varieties.
In my previous video, I showed that I have two varieties of Aloe Vera in the Garden. One variety is can adapt well with the heat of the sun, so I have no concern with it. But the other variety is a little sensitive to the sun specially when they are still young. I also don’t want to put them indoors because it’s not also healthy for the Aloe Vera plant.
How I Manage It
I place the Aloe Vera plant where they get full sunlight all day. I know their leaves will get burned or turn brown, but I also know that they are not going to die. After some time, and as they get older, they will adapt to their environment and the heat of the sun will not have much effect to their leaves anymore.
Even if the plant has adapted well to their environment, there are times when it gets too hot for days or even weeks that will turn some of the leaves of the Aloe Vera plants brown or yellow.
But if the weather turns around even for just one day that the sun won’t show up, the leaves of the Aloe Vera plant bounces back to being green.
